Kilimanjaro Hike Day Tour
Introduction
We will take you through Marangu route trail. The hike is only 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) round trip, approximately 8 hours of total walking time. A complete hike on this day tour will see you gain an altitude of 730 m, which is from Marangu gate (1970m) to Mandara Hut (2700m).
This Kilimanjaro hike day tour involves a steady uphill climb through the rainforest, and it is considered a moderate difficult. We however recommend, you get yourself prepared for a full day of walking.

Highlight of where you will visit
Marangu Route
Marangu is the earliest route that climbers used to climb up to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is considered the easiest of all the routes on Moun Kilimanjaro. A full multi-day Kilimanjaro hike via Marangu route takes 5 or 6 days.
Marangu route is the only Kilimanjaro route with accommodation in huts.
The route passes through rainforests, moorlands, and alpine deserts, providing a diverse range of landscapes.
Note that this route can be crowded as many hikers like to opt for this route as it does not require many days to climb the mountain. Marangu route is also used by hikers from Rongai route (another Kilimanjaro climbing route) when they descend the mountain.
Marangu Village
Marangu Village is a charming and culturally rich destination located in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Kilimanjaro National Park that hosts Mount Kilimanjaro has its headquarters office in this village. Marangu route starting gate is located in this village.
The village is approximately 32 kilometers (20 miles) from the city of Moshi and around 270 kilometers (168 miles) from the city of Arusha.
Apart from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, tourists come to Marangu Village for rich cultural experiences and enjoy amazing Kinukamori waterfalls. Marangu village is home to the famous Chagga tribe. You may opt for a full day cultural tour to this place to learn more about the Chaggas.
Itinerary
After an early breakfast, we will pick you from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha and transfer you to Marangu gate.
At Marangu gate, your guide will complete administrative procedures to get permit for the hike.
After getting permit, we will start the walk towards Mandara Hut. It will be 3-4 hours walk through lush rainforest. Watch out for wildlife, and plants. Feel free to ask your guide about the wildlife, plants and experiences of climbing Kilimanjaro.
Your guide will decide if you can go up to Maundi Crater, as it an additional walk from Mandara Hut. It is at Maundi Crater that you will have the opportunity on a clear day to have great views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The objective of this day hike is to reach the Mandara Hut, but feel free to ask your guide to return to Marangu gate even before reaching Mandara Hut in case you do not feel ready for that. You will have an interesting walk back to Marangu gate where you will sign out and leave for your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
